I have been scuba diving since moving to Marietta in 2002. I learned to dive through Atlanta Scuba and have been on trips to Florida, Bonaire, Tennessee, Alabama, and of course Georgia. I am constantly amazed at every underwater experience I have. I have been a volunteer diver at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga for three years. Each month I can be seen waving to excited children, cleaning rocks, feeding the rays and bonnethead sharks in the Gulf of Mexico tank, and standing guard against sand tiger sharks in the new Ocean Journey tank. I have also begun volunteering at our Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, and look forward to the day that I will become a volunteer diver there as well. I am eagerly awaiting the day that Kenzie, my daughter, and Zane, my son will be old enough to dive with me. One of the biggest thrills for me last year was being in the water with them last year in Bonaire as they went on their first Night SASI with their friend Dain. Even underwater I could hear their shrieks of delight (terror?) when Charlie, the 7 foot tarpon, appeared out of the darkness. For me scuba is a family event and occasionally even let my husband dive. Scuba is a recreation that leads to tremendous friendships, and I have been blessed to meet terrific people at Atlanta Scuba and on dive trips that I cherish, and hope to dive with for years to come. Scuba has been a joy for me, my family, and friends, and I hope it will be something we can share with you as well.
